The Illinois CPA Society recently honored our very own Edilberto (Ed) C. Ortiz with its 2010 Lifetime Achievement Award for his commitment to the Society, as well as his overall contributions and professional achievements.
Ed has over 40 years of audit experience and advisory services including ten years with large international firms in the Philippines and the United States. In 1974, he founded E.C. Ortiz and Co. CPAs, which is now currently one of the largest Asian American CPA firms in the country.
A member of the Society since 1973, Ed has served in various capacities, including serving on the ICPAS Board of Directors from 1998-2000; he continues to be a source of knowledge and experience for committee and task forces today. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the CPA Endowment Fund of Illinois where he has been instrumental in obtaining substantial contributions for accounting scholarships, including the Herman J. Neal Accounting Scholarship which assists African-American students. As long-time American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) member, Ed has served as a member of their Minority Initiatives Committee, as well as Chairman of the Scholarship Task Force. Ed is the founding president of the Philippine CPA Society of Greater Chicago and a past president of the National Council of Philippine American Canadian Accountants - two organizations that play significant roles in uniting the voices of Filipino accountants in North America.
